Professor: Obara Meji
In the upcoming Obeah Course, you will be taught many things about the phenomena, including what it actually is, how it is practiced, the effects it has upon all involved, how it works, why it works, and more. Obeah, while most will use it for bad or for revenge, can also be used as good. People will want to distance themselves from the word Obeah, preferring to call themselves Healers or whatever else, but it does not stop many who believe that once you are involved with anything spiritual on a practical level, yuh ah Obeah man or woman, and you’re practicing evil. There are many practitioners who can never explain Obeah theoretically to anyone. Most can’t explain why putting this and this together will work to make that happen. It is what has been passed down to them that they do. The practical application is all that concerns them and the outcome of their effort. Yet they attribute what they (some not all) know or what they have learned to L.W. De Laurence who wrote many books on the subject. Whatever has a practical application should have a theoretical explanation, and so here we go as we plunge deep into the great abyss known as Obeah. Bring your books but open your minds. See you in class.
In this week we will continue to explore how obeah works and also spiritual roads. We will follow the Obeah man and his client. When learning about obeah, it is important to understand that there is not only one road of the practice, as most will assume, and it is also important to understand why both roads are needed.
